11/21/2024 -  Indie Punk Fuzz Poets Single Mothers have announced their last show of 2024 at Corktown Pub on November 30th as part of Past Presents Future.

Single Mothers, founded by Drew Thomson in 2008, has over the years become one of the most unique music projects to ever come out of Ontario. The band exploded onto the scene in a way that felt dangerous and fresh.

Over the years and multiple members (the band's wikipedia page boasts no less than 16 members), Singe Mothers has become an ever evolving think tank of creatives who have all seemingly left their mark on each era of the band.

Wether it was intended at conception or not, Single Mothers and Thomson are a living commune of dangerously honest creation equally challenged by a sincere look at at disfunction and accountability - that you can play air guitar to.

This week, the band announced via social media that they'll be playing their last show of 2024 at Corktown Pub where they'll be performing their seminal debut studio record, Negative Qualities front to back.

Released on Hot Charity Records in 2014, and later reissued by Dine Alone Records in 2019, Negative Qualities quickly became a benchmark record for an era of Southern Ontario punk that allowed bands like TV Freaks, The Dirty Nil, and Pup to thrive.

The record caught international attention and seemed to thrust Single Mothers into another hemisphere. Paul Thompson at Pitch Fork gave it an impressive 7.4 and Brooklyn Vegan's Andrew Sacher had this to say,

It’s sneering, angry, sarcastic DGAF punk rock that’s bound to make you feel something
