About Astral Witch

Originating in Hamilton in 2014 and now spread across the shadowy underbellies of Southern Ontario, Astral Witch brings a different feel to the Doom genre. Combining dual lead vocals from Alyssa (guitar) and Jon (bass guitar/keys) and the rhythmic pulse from Jen (drums/backing vocals) the trio brings a bass-heavy tone of raw carnality to the music they write and perform.

'Astral Witch' released July 2019 on 12" vinyl (Recorded at Boxcar Sound Recording by Sean Pearson) with production assistance from Fuzzed and Buzzed.

WHEN AND WHERE DID YOUR LOVE OF MUSIC FORM?

When I was 12 my mom bought me a CD Black Sabbath greatest hits (we sold our soul for rock ‘en roll) and to this day I tell her that’s why I’m not a lawyer. That collection of songs really grabbed me and not long after I started messing around on guitar and the sabbath stuff was extremely fun to learn and play.

WHAT WAS THE FIRST CONCERT YOU WENT TO?

My mom took me out of class when I was in grade 3 to see the Barenaked Ladies at a Niagara college event lol

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST “BIG SHOW”? OR YOUR FIRST SHOW EVER?

Would have to be one of the first shows Astral Witch ever played at the doors or this ain’t Hollywood in Hamilton. Not any of our first shows or biggest shows but the feeling of starting a band a feeling like we had something was very cool.
