I've had the pleasure of seeing Jason Allen's live show over the years and got to know him a little bit. His view of the world is something to be admired and every show I've seen, he's made me laugh uncontrollably. Jason is a metal head and seems to approach his comedic work ethic more like a band than your average comic. He tours relentlessly, stays DIY, and doesn't compromise who he is on stage or off. If Jason doesn't become one of the biggest comics to ever come out of comedy, then the internet is right and comedy is truly is broken.

MEET COMEDIAN JASON ALLEN, ONE OF CANADA'S BEST TOURING COMEDIANS.

When and where did you form your love of comedy?

Growing up my Dad and Uncle’s would put on old vinyls of Richard Pryor and George Carlin. I would say that’s when I really started to have an appreciation and love for comedy.

What was the first concert you went to?

My Dad is a huge Alice Cooper fan so he was my first concert. I don’t remember my first stand up comedy show but my favourite experience was when I got to see Steven Wright.

What was your first set like? Did it go well ?

It was an amateur contest at this bar called to Roxbury in London, Ontario. I was really nervous and ended up drawing bullet so I had to go first. The set ended up going very well though, I actually won the amateur contest.

What was your worst show or funniest memory?

I did a show for the rotary club where they held hands and sang the national anthem first. They didn’t have a microphone and I don’t really think they knew what they were in for. There was 8 of them at a round table and me just standing there with no microphone or spotlight. It didn’t go well.

Tell us about About Laugh Night what should people expect?

I think they’re in for a great show. I really love all the comics that are on it, it should be a great night.

What’s next for you?

I’ll be doing a run up North in the Spring that I’m very excited about.
