FIVE QUESTIONS WITH JOHN BOLTON OF CONVERSATION

BIO:

CONVERSATION are an emerging and exciting post-hardcore band from Toronto, Canada.

Their sound contains the echoes of early Underoath and Deftones, while still carving out their own punk rock attitude and pop sensibility.Their latest single, As The Oceans Moved, shows the telltale signs of a band who have found their own grounded and well crafted sound. Lyrically the song tells the story of a couple at the very edge of a relationship gone wrong, and the realizations that have come to light.

Accompanying ATOM, is the re-release of two previous EPs as one full-length body of work. Produced by Sam Guaiana (Silverstein, We Were Sharks, Like Pacific), ‘Honesty’ displays soaring guitars, emotive and gripping vocal hooks, flirting with a somber and melancholy undertone. CONVERSATION strikes a balance between thoughtful post-hardcore and melodically measured alternative rock.

Their stage energy and live show is a force to be reckoned with, resulting in anyone seeing them for the first time leaving as new fans. This level of performance has been the major reason they’ve shared the stage with acts like Bullet For My Valentine, Silent Planet, Hands Like Houses, Enter Shikari and Our Last Night.

Their energy even caught the attention of Jack Daniels, who featured the quintet in an international ad campaign for the renowned whiskey maker.

Adding to their growing list of accolades, they were crowned of the 2022 edition of the revered 97.7HTZ-FM Rocksearch radio competition.

Conversation take the stage at Bovine Sex Club in Toronto Thursday November 30th. Get tickets here.

WHICH MEMBER OF THE BAND ARE WE TALKING TO?

Timothy John Bolton - The lead singer

WHEN AND WHERE WAS YOUR BAND  FORMED?

CONVERSATION was formed in the summer of 2012 when I moved to Toronto with the sole purpose of starting a band to create music that felt honest in every form of the word.

WHAT WAS THE FIRST CONCERT YOU WENT TO?

The first concert I went to was The Offspring in Melbourne, Australia. But I didn’t go to see them. I went to see the opening act, The Living End, who are an amazing punk rock band from my hometown.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST “BIG SHOW”? OR YOUR FIRST SHOW EVER?

The biggest show we “CONVERSATION” have played, was opening for Bullet For My Valentine at The Phoenix here in Toronto. There was a moment when I asked the whole crowd (1500 people) to be silent for a single moment, and we all stood there in silence for 30 seconds. It was magic.

WHAT WAS YOUR WORST SHOW OR FUNNIEST SHOW MEMORY?

Truth be told, my funniest memory is every single time I’m with the guys. They are my best friends and they crack me up every single time I’m with them. I am, in all honesty, the luckiest man to be able to make music with these absolute gents.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOUR BAND?

New music! New shows! New tours! Do yourselves a favour and make note on this day. CONVERSATION are coming your way and nothing is gonna stand in our way!
