Hamilton visual artist and MC Anthony Haley releases "Possess The Flow" produced by Danny Miles and announces Open Season Volume 7

Veteran indie rapper and visual artist Anthony Haley has been diligently working to build the Hamilton Hip-Hop community since he first picked up a microphone in 2004.
His newest release, Possess The Flow was produced by July Talk’s Danny Miles and embarks on a spooky journey through illustrative lyrics, combative energy, and his distinctive flow, which shows a confidence and maturity that may not have been present on earlier releases.
Anthony will be celebrating the new release at Open Season 7, an evolving indie hip-hop concert series that consistently features fellow indie hip-hop artists that the Hamilton mural artist admires or finds inspirational.
The event takes place on November 28th at Doors Pub in Hamilton and will feature Buddah Abusah.

FIVE QUESTIONS UPDATE WITH ANTHONY H.
WHAT WAS THE LAST CONCERT YOU WENT TO?
One of the last concerts I was at was July Talk out in London, was a good show, I hadn’t seen them perform since 2016 up in Bala. Since the first time I saw them I’m now working with Danny Miles and we just released a single called Possess The Flow. Kind of wild how that came full circle. July Talk always puts on a great show, love that energy. I was also helping out at the Skate or Dive fest and stage managed so…I saw the whole festival, it was epic! A weekend full of Hardcore, Metal and Punk.
WHAT WAS YOUR LAST “BIG SHOW”?
My last “Big Show” would’ve been the Ill Scarlett show last year, it was PACKED! I had a great time warming up the crowd right before they went on. I had seen them perform for years in Toronto, so it was an achievement for me to open up for a band I’ve seen countless times. Other than that, I guess you could say the biggest show I’ve done this year was get married to my lovely wife Meagan!

WHAT WAS YOUR WORST SHOW OR FUNNIEST SHOW MEMORY?
Last time I went on to talk about the falling out between my homie and I, we’re still great friends by the way. But I guess other than that experience, like most of us throwing indie shows we have some highs and some super lows. One of the funniest moments was letting a heckler come up and finish my set while I performed new songs and he swore he knew the lyrics. I just let him go and backed him up. You gotta roll with the crowd sometimes.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING ON RECENTLY?
I mentioned that Danny Miles and I have been working on a few songs, I’ll be releasing those singles over the next few months with “Possess The Flow” being the first. I wanted that to be released for Halloween, I was inspired by Thriller to try and make something that would be played yearly at the same time without it being an anthem to the season.
I’m excited to release the next few, but other than that I’m still painting walls and doing commissions in the visual arts world.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOUR BAND?
Next I got a show coming up on November 28th, this will be the last Open Season for the year! I’m excited to perform a bunch of the new songs and share the stage with my good homie DJ !Kryme Won, as well as one of Hamilton’s best engineers and rappers Buddah Abusah. I've wanted to reach out and work with this dude for a minute. I can remember him rolling through Steel Golds years back now with Basquiat Clique. So I'm excited, and it’s all happening at Doors Pub one of my all time favorite spots in Hamilton (one of the last O.G’s now too) with some awesome Taco’s. Come on out and support some amazing local hip hop! I'll also be hopefully getting a few more walls up in the city so be sure to keep an eye out for that!!
