Formed in early 2022 from Toronto’s bustling open mic circuit, Tumble quickly emerged as a force within the local music community. The band’s genesis is rooted in raw ambition and an unyielding drive to capture the spirit of classic rock. Early performances offered the members a testing ground to refine their sound, energetically engaging audiences and setting the stage for future endeavors. By October 2022, the lineup was solidified with guitarist and vocalist Liam Deak, bassist Tarun Dawar, and drummer Will Adams, cementing their identity as a power trio with a passion for explosive live music.

Tumble’s musical style is steeped in the rich traditions of late 1960s and early 1970s heavy and psychedelic rock. Drawing inspiration from iconic bands like Budgie, Blue Cheer, Cactus, MC5, Pentagram, and The Groundhogs, they fuse vintage rock ‘n’ roll elements with a modern, grittier approach. Their sound is marked by groovy riffs, high-energy rhythms, and dynamic solos that transport audiences to an era defined by musical experimentation and raw power. This blend of retro influences and contemporary vigor not only underscores Tumble’s musical identity but also positions them as torchbearers for the timeless spirit of rock.

A significant milestone in Tumble’s journey came in January 2023 when they entered the studio with legendary Canadian rock musician and producer Ian Blurton. The collaboration, carried out at ProGold Studios, was a whirlwind creative session that resulted in the debut EP Lady Cadaver. Recorded in a single day, the EP is comprised of two tracks:
Lady Cadaver
This title track evolved organically from a live jam session, with its driving main riff and pulsating rhythm forming the core. Liam Deak has described how the lyrics, steeped in themes of paranoia, drug use, and the supernatural, came to him on a contemplative night-long walk while the tune lingered in his mind.

The Plage
In contrast, “The Plague” is a psychedelic instrumental written almost instantaneously—a pure outpouring of creativity that allowed the band’s collective energy to shine through without words. Its head banging intensity and immersive soundscape perfectly encapsulate the band’s commitment to delivering a visceral rock experience.

Even before the release of Lady Cadaver, Tumble made a significant impact on the live music circuit. Their very first show at Toronto’s iconic Lee’s Palace on June 15, 2022, remains a standout moment—a performance that captured the raw, unfiltered energy of their music. The band’s reputation soon grew, leading them to share stages with established acts such as Crown Lands, Ecstatic Vision, and Witchrot. Further amplifying their reach, Tumble embarked on a summer tour with Occult Witches, performing across venues in Quebec and Ontario, where their explosive stage presence and authentic rock ‘n’ roll vibe resonated with audiences thirsty for genuine musical energy.

The band is already gearing up to return to the studio later in the year, with plans to record a full-length album that will further explore and refine their signature sound. Their eyes are also set on reissuing Lady Cadaver on vinyl—a nod to rock purists and collectors who appreciate the tangible, nostalgic essence of classic rock.
