BIO:

Formed in a time of darkness and uncertainty, SEWN has always been about pushing past boundaries and the exploration of the unknown. Since manifesting during the 2020 global pandemic, SEWN has been a culmination of music that comes from the deepest and darkest places of the human soul, combined with lyrics that evoke empathy and expression of mental status. Seeking to become a vessel for inspiration, SEWN stands as a symbol of hope for the hopeless. Founding members Alexandra Hunter (Vocals) and Brett Nemeth (Drums) have never been afraid of carving their own path in the heavy music scene of their hometown Toronto, Canada. Often difficult to describe, beat-down, metalcore, and deathcore are only components of what makes the sound of SEWN. Rounded out by newcomers Dylan Vieira (Guitar / Vocals) and Jesse Manou (Bass), the band has established their space and name in the heavy music scene by holding no boundaries for what’s possible with the raw expression of human emotion. With new members and new inspiration, SEWN has once again shifted into gear to conquer new grounds in 2023 and show once again why they are a force to be reckoned with in the modern metal music scene. With new music on the horizon, and their first ever show dates in Spring/Summer of 2023, SEWN is looking to pave the way and show to the world why they are the next big name in modern metal.

FIVE QUESTIONS WITH DYLAN VIEIRA OF SEWN

WHO ARE WE SPEAKING TO?

Dylan Vieira, Guitar player and backing vocals of SEWN.

WHEN AND WHERE DID YOU LOVE OF MUSIC FORM?

My love for music probably started when I was young and getting to see and hear the experiences that my dad (Mike Charette) went through in being a part of a touring band (damn 13, Ignorance Never Settles, etc.)  I kind of grew up wanting to be like him and get to see the world playing music, but it wasn't until I hit about 15/16 years old until I really started to make a push to learn an instrument and get the ball rolling.

WHAT WAS THE FIRST CONCERT YOU WENT TO?

Other than my dads concerts, I believe my aunt took me to go see my chemical romance back when the black parade had just come out and they were doing a north american tour for it at the time. I was really young, about 8 years old or so, so I don't remember much of it unfortunately but I do remember having a great time and enjoying the show.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST SHOW EVER?

Well speaking from a SEWN aspect our first show was actually back in May of 2023, almost a year ago from the time I am writing this. We played Duffy's Tavern, with a couple of bands that we now call our friends (Soulthief, Cruel Intent, Locutor, Death Perception) in Toronto Ontario and was actually one of those special moments where I don't think any of us in SEWN will ever really forget.

WHAT IS YOUR FUNNIEST SHOW MEMORY?

From my point of view it probably had to be the time that our bass player Jesse Manou had magically gashed his forehead. Obviously getting hurt isn't the funny part and he was okay just had some blood on his face after. It was when we had asked him after we noticed how it happened. He responds with "I have no idea! One second I'm playing and the next I'm bleeding!" Luckily we had a videographer (Josh Wong) filming the set for us that night and we got to watch and see how the damage was done.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOUR BAND?

Well, other than an onslaught of shows coming this year, we are planning to finally break out of Ontario and get into the Quebec scene and potentially some other locations are currently in the works at the moment. We also have small EP coming out in the next coming months and all I can say about the songs is that they definitely are different and out of our comfort zone, but I think that's what makes them so special to us. Promo on that should begin soon so keep your eyes peeled on our socials for that!
